What to Do When Disruption is Impacting Your Employees’ Stress, Health & Safety

Disruption is the new norm. But what does that mean to your employees' stress, health and safety? In this session, Joe Burton, Founder and CEO of Whil, presents a humor-filled look into the disruptive challenges facing companies, the surprisingly high cost, and new stress resiliency techniques being embraced around the world. This will include reflecting on a career running public companies as a Global COO where his job description was “fly around the world and stress people out.

Automotive Security: a Hacker’s Eye View

Automotive Security is garnering widespread attention from media, consumers, manufactures, and hackers alike. The security of today’s vehicles involves many moving parts, but while manufactures take a majority of the blame, multiple parties contribute to the security debt in today’s vehicle ecosystem. This presentation will go over automotive security, current attacks, and calls to action that will give valuable insight into vehicle security from a hacker’s perspective.

The FCA HANA Sidecar Implementation Was like Stepping into a Challenger Hellcat

Reporting and analysis was often a painful process at FCA US LLC following the launch of their newest SAP implementation “PentaSAP”.  Critical metrics and insights were locked within the billions of transactional data in ECC, and Finance teams were under extreme pressure to meet critical month-end close deadlines while contending with slow system performance. By using an accelerated deployment strategy, the SAP HANA Sidecar solution went straight to the core of the issue with very direct and flexible reporting solutions for the business areas most in need.  Business users realized 10x – 600x processing performance improvements, enabling finance teams to ask new questions never before thought possible and opened an entirely new horizon for reporting & analytics at FCA.

SAP Manufacturing & Supply Chain “Pieces” Fit Together for End-to-End Value

We will discuss how the many and varied SAP solutions fit together to simplify, integrate and accelerate how automotive business processes combine to deliver business value for automotive manufacturers and suppliers.

How Direct Digital Manufacturing, Micromanufacturing & Co-Creation are Bringing About the New Industrial

Vehicle design and assembly has changed little since the days of Henry Ford, despite immeasurable advances in technology. Still, vehicle manufacturers define efficiencies based on economies of scale-large capital investments, high volume production, limited product mix, low profit margins and slow-paced innovations. By instead utilizing a network of microfactories and just-in-time systems, employing direct digital manufacturing (including 3D printing) and relying on the creative power of the crowd, Local Motors turns the traditional vehicle on its head. These strategies eliminate the need for retooling a factory, allow for rapid advancements in technology and customization, and reduce capital investment and environmental footprint.

A New Approach from JCI: Divesting Automotive Business to Form Adient

It’s no secret that the Automotive Supplier business is extremely competitive. Mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures continue pick up steam as the automotive industry surges forward into some of its most prosperous years, and so suppliers must grow larger and more global to reduce costs and retain their competitive edge. In this presentation, Johnson Controls will discuss their approach to the issue of scale and globalization by spinning off its automotive seating business to form Adient, the world’s largest automotive seating supplier. Additionally, audience members will learn about the strategy Adient is developing to utilize SAP to reduce costs and allow us to run our new company as a single, global entity.

Connected “Everything & Anywhere” Makes Security Increasingly Important & Ever Changing

Today sensors are everywhere in vehicles - in manufacturing equipment, in logistics, in civil infrastructures, wearables, everywhere.  An entry point anywhere is one that can be exploited on a large scale, and one that can have disastrous implications far beyond the entry point. On the other hand, the benefits of running this effectively are huge.  As sensors proliferate and the data they generate grows exponentially, sensor and data security becomes a very visible and essential endeavor. Nevertheless, this is no battle to be won. It is a continuously evolving series of victories, risks, awareness and vulnerabilities. This panel will discuss the far ranging aspects of safety and security in our connected auto/mobile world.

Reliably Planning for Irregular Demand: IBP Improves S&OP at Yazaki Corporation

At Yazaki Corporation, a global automotive parts supplier, the technology landscape involves a multitude of systems to support our end-to-end planning process. These systems have their unique purpose in our landscape but, function primarily independently to support their functions which include sales, demand, manufacturing, engineering change management, etc. The challenge for Yazaki’s S&OP process was to harmonize a single end-to-end data set for planning purposes and to establish predictive KPI’s to remove potential supply barriers.

Over the past 6 years we have struggled trying to implement a robust S&OP which was primarily based on individual spreadsheet. These challenges were primary characterized by a disjointed planning process that was primarily demand driven, forcing supply to constantly act reactively.

Yazaki has selected IBP S&OP tool to address these challenges and provide a robust platform to perform S&OP Planning. Yazaki has launched the beginnings of this tool in one of their regions in Mexico to acquaint users with the new tools and begin making business decisions based on this data in a controlled environment.

Join Dave Weinkauf as he describes the planning and implementation of the IBP tools and explores how Yazaki chose to address the reliably irregular demand of their customers and achieve improved decision making, increased efficiency, and enhanced mid to long term planning.

Simplification of Security Strategy & Role Redesign

Reduce segregation of duties issues and role maintenance through redesigning SAP security roles has had a significant impact on day to day business at BorgWarner. By using a similar strategy to SAPs Fiori gateway security, we have removed the security organization structure from all roles but one. This has reduced the scope of the roles to single functions. This allows all roles, except organization structure, to be shared across all locations globally. With master roles in place, we are able to create derived roles for each location, rather than having everything shared or everything separate. This has had a significant impact on security authorizations and allowed for more precise segregation of roles. Overall, BorgWarner has seen a reduction in role maintenance and has provided the business with roles that are small enough to allow for segregation of duties.
